about

This is an old song, I wrote when I was 15, one of the first I ever wrote.
Gazel (www.facebook.com/thisisgazel/) found an old demo of it lurking on the internet and persuaded me to give it new life.

Sylvia Plath samples from a reading of her beautiful, heart breaking poem 'Parliament Hill Fields.'

lyrics

As she walked away from the crowd
Everyone spoke her name out loud
every step she took with care
because she knew that they were aware

Persephone, don't cut your hair
in the garden, they know that you're there
as the moonlight danced on your skin
your words were golden so I let you in.

When you left this world turned so cold,
everything that once had been gold
turned to dust at my feet,
oh where on earth have you been?

You tripped but you won't fall,
you tripped but you won't fall
you tripped but you won't fall,
you tripped but you won't fall....

So I went out on the longest night
and then I knew that they had all lied;
with every seed that you ate,
I knew that I was too late.

Persephone, don't cut your hair
in the garden they know that you're there,
as the moonlight danced on your skin,
your words were golden,
so I let you in.
